    Thank you for your question.
    The existing travel lane widths along Steveston Hwy. will be reduced by pushing the concrete curb out towards the centre of the road, allowing the boulevard to be widened to accommodate the new pathway.


    In addition to this, we anticipate that the existing hedges will require pruning to provide sufficient clearances for the new multi-use pathway. The extents of the pruning will be on a case-by-case scenario and adjacent homeowner consultation will be conducted prior to any trimming being completed. Should the required pruning affect the long-term health of the hedges, a suitable replacement will be coordinated with the homeowner. 

     

    This process is similar to the Steveston Highway Phase 1 and Phase 2 projects which are currently under construction near Mortfield Gate. Bus stops will be adjusted accordingly to provide adequate clearances for the pathway as well as minimize impacts to surrounding hedges.
