The City of Richmond is currently undertaking its initial consultation on

  • preferred options for updated design policies and heritage policies in Steveston Area Plan
  • options for streetscape concepts for Bayview Street, Chatham Street, and Moncton Streets; and is seeking public input.

The project page includes information boards, key dates, and two surveys. The deadline to complete the surveys is Sunday, July 30, 2017 at 11:59 p.m.

In addition to this information, two upcoming open houses will offer information boards on the options, and the opportunity to complete a public survey on site or on the City’s Web site - LetsTalkRichmond.ca, and to speak with City of Richmond staff from community planning and transportation.

  • Thursday, July 20 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Steveston Community Centre (4111 Moncton Street)
  • Saturday, July 22 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Steveston Community Centre (4111 Moncton Street).

Background

Since the updates to the Steveston Area Plan in 2009, there have been some recent concerns in the community about whether new development fits with the character of Steveston Village. On June 6, 2017, Council endorsed the launch of public engagement on options for updating design and heritage policies and options for streetscape concepts for Bayview, Chatham and Moncton Streets.

Next steps include staff reporting the findings back to Council in October 2017. Comments from the two open houses and LetsTalkRichmond.ca, will inform the staff review of preferred options, and the future Council decision on amendments to Steveston Area Plan and the streetscape concepts.

    Here is your opportunity to share feedback.

    The City is continuing a planning process to develop long-term streetscape visions for Bayview Street, Chatham Street and Moncton Street in Steveston Village.

    The purpose of this City initiative is to inform you, seek your input on the important elements that should be included in the planning concepts and identify your preferred vision for each street.
