Consultation has concluded

This engagement has concluded. It ran from July 17 to September 8, 2024. Thank you to everyone who participated.

~~~~~~
Background:
At an average of one metre above sea level, Richmond faces flood hazards from sea level rise due to climate change, coastal storm surges, snowmelt flooding and extreme weather events. The City of Richmond recognizes this risk and is currently advancing the Dike Master Plan with proposed upgrades for the north dike portion, from Lynas Lane to No. 2 Road.
The upgrade is approximately 330 metres long and will raise the current dike by 1.5 metres. To create the least impact to the foreshore, the dike will be raised inland.
Residents and businesses of Richmond are invited to review concept designs found in the Document Library and provide feedback.
Here's how you can get involved:
  • Review the information in the Document Library on the right side of this webpage, which includes boards outlining the north dike project.
  • Complete a short online survey below. The survey closes at 11:59pm on Sunday, September 8, 2024.
  • Attend a drop-in style open house on Wednesday, July 24 from 4:00 to 7:00pm at the Austria Club, 5851 Westminster Highway. City staff will be available to discuss the north dike upgrades and answer questions. Kids are welcome to enjoy activities in the Kids Corner.
