This engagement concluded July 1, 2018. Thank you to everyone who participated.
The City of Richmond has received an Age-Friendly Grant from the Union of BC Municipalities (UBCM) to create a Dementia-Friendly Community Action Plan for Richmond.
The creation of an action plan for Richmond will provide City staff and community partners with a common vision on initiatives and actions to assist people affected by dementia. The Alzheimer Society of B.C. defines a dementia-friendly community as one that focuses on the inclusion of people living with dementia and on stigma reduction. This project further supports Richmond as an age-friendly community ensuring accessibility and inclusion for all ages.
Those living with dementia and those affected by dementia – including friends, family, caregivers, neighbours and coworkers are invited to share their input and thoughts about this project.
How you can be involved:
Attend a focus group during the month of June at one of the locations/dates listed under Important Dates. Participants will be asked to share their experiences living with dementia and/or caring for someone living with dementia which will provide valuable input that will be used to create a dementia-friendly community action plan for Richmond. More details and registration information can be found at www.richmond.ca/dementiafriendly
Those caring for someone living with dementia are invited to register for two focus groups specifically designed for caregivers.
