Safety Enhancements Coming to No. 3 Road Bark Park

Based on Council’s approved direction provided during Council Meeting on June 10, 2024, the No. 3 Road Bark Park will undergo safety upgrades, starting this year. The park will remain open for everyone to enjoy, with only small sections temporarily closed off for construction to keep everyone safe.

Here's what you can look forward to:

  • Plenty of Space for Off-Leash Fun: Most of the park, including the scenic waterfront dike trail and a looped pathway, will remain as dedicated off-leash area for our furry friends to run and play.
  • New East-West Multi-Use Trail: We're introducing a new trail along the north side for cyclists, pedestrians, and dogs on-leash, separated from the rest of the off-leash area with a new fence. This means everyone can enjoy the park together, safely and comfortably.
  • Improved Signage: Clearer signs will make it easier to navigate the park and understand the new layout.

What's Happening Now?

We are currently working on designing and planning site enhancements in collaboration with qualified professionals to ensure everything goes smoothly. Due to the watercourse on the north side of the site and the need to add footings for gates and fencing along the dyke trail, we need to consult environmental and engineering experts. Their guidance will help us protect the watercourse, nearby bird nests, and the dyke during construction, while also ensuring we meet all regulations and requirements.

Tentative Schedule

Pending the necessary approvals, we plan to start work in September this year and aim to complete everything by the end of 2024.

  Tuesday, November 28, 2023 from 5:00 – 7:00pm at Richmond City Hall, 6911 No. 3 Road; and 

  Saturday, December 2, 2023 from 10:00am – noon at the No. 3 Road Bark Park, 13900 No. 3 Road (near the parking lot - look for the white tent!)

Feedback from this survey will improve our understanding of community concerns, needs and desires, and help us deliver the best outcome for all park users.
