**On Friday, August 30, 2024 the Provincial Minister of Housing issued a statement that the Province, through BC Housing, is suspending work on the proposed new six-storey supportive housing building at Cambie and Sexsmith roads in Richmond. Read the Minister’s statement here."

BC Housing is proposing to build a new six-storey building with approximately 90 supportive homes at Cambie Road and Sexsmith Road on land owned by the City of Richmond. These homes would help address the urgent need for supportive housing and help reduce the risk of people experiencing homelessness in Richmond.

The proposal for this site includes:

  • 90 private studio apartments each with a bathroom, kitchenette and combined living and sleeping space
  • a front reception office, a kitchen and dining area, indoor amenity space, a tenant support office, shared laundry facilities and bicycle parking

This project will proceed through the City’s regulatory process for rezoning and development permit applications. Through these processes, there are a variety of opportunities for the public to provide feedback to the project team and Richmond City Council.

Community Builders

If approved, the building would be managed by Community Builders, which has been offering affordable housing and community-based services to its residents since 2001. Tenants living in the building will have access to services to support them to live independently and safely in their homes.

Share your feedback

Beginning in June 2024, the City of Richmond, BC Housing and Community Builders are engaging with the neighbours of the site to present the proposed development and listen to feedback. Community input will help inform Council’s review of the rezoning and development permit applications for the project. During this process, the public can:
