    Thank you for your question. 

    Users with privately owned e-scooters may use available bike racks, which are located at all Canada Line stations and major destinations such as shopping centres and civic facilities.  As well, expansion of the shared e-scooter/e-bike service in the City operated by Lime is expected to continue as demand grows. Ridership will help to identify desire lines for active transportation infrastructure enhancements. 

    Public engagement held in 2021 for the update of the City’s cycling network plan will also inform future improvements to the City’s cycling network.  The final Cycling Network Plan, which will identify short-, medium- and long-term cycling infrastructure priorities, is anticipated be presented to Council in early summer 2022.

    The City undertakes and supports a number of initiatives and on-going activities to increase the level of traffic and pedestrian safety around schools which supports active transportation. 

    These include joint initiatives with external agencies to improve traffic safety around schools; establishing traffic control measures around school zones; and provision of pedestrian and cycling infrastructure to support safe routes to schools.  The City also funds cycling skills education courses for all Grade 6 & 7 students.  A recent staff report also outlines a proactive approach to implement potential measures to improve traffic safety around schools: https://www.richmond.ca/agendafiles/Open_PWT_4-20-2022.pdf
