As the City of Richmond advances completion of its Dike Master Plan, Richmond residents and interested parties are invited to review information and provide feedback on proposed upgrade concepts for phases 3 and 5 of the City's Dike Master Plan:

  • Phase 3: South Dike between No. 2 Road and Boundary Road
  • Phase 5 : Sea Island between the Sea Island Connector Bridge to the south end of 3800 Cessna Drive, Mitchell Island and Richmond Island

Here's how you can be involved:

  • Review the information in the Document Library section on this webpage and complete the online survey below before 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, February 3, 2019.
  • The City will be holding 2 drop-in style open houses where City staff will be available to discuss the Dike Master Plan and answer questions. See the Important Dates section on this webpage for the dates, times, and locations.
  • Visit us at the information booth at the Smart Cities Ideas Fair on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Kwantlen Polytechnic University

Background

To accommodate climate change-induced sea level rise and ground settling, the 2008-2031 Richmond Flood Protection Strategy guides the City to raise dike heights.

Public engagement for Dike Master Plan Phases 1 and 2 have been completed while public engagement for Phase 4 will be scheduled at a later date.

All feedback received will be considered in a final report to Council.
