Project Update: No.3 Road Dog Park Proposed Tree Planting Plan

Based on the feedback provided by the community through engagement via LetsTalkRichmond.ca and other public input opportunities including the workshop held on site on September 10, 2022, City staff have developed a proposed tree location plan. The trees will be planted this fall (2022) by City staff and as part of an upcoming volunteer tree planting event scheduled for late November.

This engagement project has concluded. It took place from September 6 to October 2, 2022. Thank you to everyone who participated.

Hey Richmond, let’s talk about planting trees at the No.3 Road Dog Park.

What is Happening?

The dike was recently upgraded at this location, including upgrades to the park which include:

  • Improved seating areas
  • Over 100 trees planted
  • Refurbished ‘Dog Party’ public art
  • Dog obstacle course features
  • Planting areas
  • New benches

The City has received feedback that more trees may be desired, and we’d like as many park-users as possible to provide input before making decisions.

Trees provide shade and create gathering spaces for park users. Trees also impact open space areas for dogs to run in, as well as impact open vista views of the river.

We are seeking your input on:

  • Whether more trees are desired
  • Suggestions on where you’d like to see trees planted
  • What kind of trees should be planted
  • Whether or not you’d be willing to take part in a volunteer tree planting event this fall

How to share your input:

  • From Tuesday, Sept. 6 to Sunday, Oct. 2, 2022, complete the online survey on this page (scroll down), or
  • Drop by the park on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2022 to talk with Park Planners
    • Time: 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
    • Address: No.3 Road Dog Park Off Leash Area, at the foot of No.3 Road where it meets Dyke Road (see map below).
